Cassette tape sales jumped by 204.7% in the first quarter of 2025, hitting 63,288 units. Meanwhile, CD sales fell 2.6%. This dramatic comeback of the once-outdated format shows a major shift in how people buy music, following this year’s Record Store Day.
“Physical’s performance was welcome, with
vinyl giving a particularly strong account of itself, and CD continuing its
trend of only slightly being down on the year,” BPI CEO Dr. Jo Twist said to
Music Week. “We’re often asked when demand for vinyl might start to slow, but,
for now at least, it keeps defying such expectations.”
I still feel cassette tape sound is my
first choice, and there is no second choice or third as I have over 500 cassettes
of my favourite music and artists and good enough for me to run it as
background music when I am at work from Home or as after work entertainment
They are non destructible, physical
existence warm, and have depth than CD and even some vinyl. And no hissing or
pop pops irritating noise of LP!
