Celebration of Songkran Festival in Little Bangkok

(Thai New year) Kowloon City is the Little Bangkok in Hong Kong. Since the very first Thai Restaurant Thai Wah established in 1985, more and more Thai made their way to sell their Thai Cuisine there, now there are over 50 Thai restaurants there, early one was Thai Wah, Wong Chun Chun, Wong Lam lam are the famous one. I have been spending a lot of time eating there and my favourite Thai Dished is Yam Pha Dou Foo! ( deep fried minced cat fish served with peanut, dried shrimp, cashew nuts and topped up with some vinegar, chili and sugar.. That is the greatest Thai dish!! Yummy!

My wife (She2nd) used to go there for most of her time meeting friends and eating there,.. nowadays there are a lot Thai Bars…

Peace in Thailand

Recently the Thai Incident troubles me as first wife is Thai and the second is Thai too, both of they are now in Thailand. I am closely listening to the news on papers and Yahoo that worries me...though both of them in not in Bangkok. And my first beloved daughter got a scholarship for an exchange student programme and she will fly to Australia for University studying for 1 month next week, I hope there will be no trouble in the Airport.
I still remembered that I was trapped in Chiangmai for two weeks as the last Red Shirts protectors occupied the Bangkok Airport 2 years ago.
Yesterday, there were over 500 causalities including 18 deaths…! That is the worst for past 18 years. Thai political turmoil is really giving most of the Hong Kong people some kind of psychronogical contamination that pull them back for visiting Thailand. Thailand is used to be one of the most favorite tourist spots as HK people love to eat their food and like to share their smile. The City of Angels is now requiring the King to put his hand to stop this or there would be more damages to Thai economy and worst effect is the damages of the tourists that may take years to re-gain the confidence to go again.
Peace is a blessing, and as most of the HK people are lucky as we never have this kind of riot since 1967… may peace will stay in HK and Thailand forever whereby my two families are there!

The Landlord is a Dinorsaur In Hong Kong

When some of the new building hits a sky high 70,000 dollar per square foot in Hong Kong recently whereby only some of Mainland Chinese and local foreign speculators could pay for that. Their one bottle of red wine could possibly value someone ‘s annual income..! There are numerous people who cannot afford but have to stay in some of the illegal structure or building in Hong Kong. In HK, there are 200,000 unauthorized building works, these are some of them in the picture I took two days ago in Yau Ma Tei!

Only people can enjoy slightly the so called prosperity in Hong Kong of your personal annual income is more than US$500,000 (USD$64,000) or above. That is an equivalent of an ordinary manager in Hong Kong.

When the Government of Hong Kong is trying to register an unreasonable low hourly wage of HKD$20, that is a estimated monthly salary of HKD$4,160 which is a minimum rent for a 150 square foot cubicle in the area shown in the picture… leaving nothing in their hands for food, travelling and cloths… Is this kind of life be expected in the Richest Country in Asia…!??

May the one who is holding a bottle of 1959 Latour in the left hand and on the other hand holding a microphone at media radio to Bullshit the amount of HKD20.00 as the minimum wage?


HKD$33.00 an hour looks like more humane… In my mind… HKD$40.00 is minimum wages….however, we have to prepare the next coming side effect:


1. The illegal foreign low cost workers, immigration control should alert.


2. Short term of lay off for some short-sighted business man.


3. A loading increase to the worker says two men to work for three men!


4. The Negotiation of rental fare between the shop keeper and the landlords.


5. The Government should consider issue a new law to control the rent after the two years contracts. Now there is no such control and the landlord and estate developers is like a Dinosaur who can eat up the whole country’s economy!

Dinosaur's life style is to eat and to breed... a lot... but they need a lot of food to get their stomach stuffed!

May the Dinosaurs go extinct soon. Hunger is the killer for them.

Guan Yu

Guan Yu is widely referred to as Emperor Guan (關帝), short for his Daoist title Saintly Emperor Guan, and as Guan Gong, literally "Lord Guan." Temples and shrines dedicated exclusively to Guan Yu can be found in parts of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and other places with Chinese influence such as Vietnam, Thailand, South Korea, and Japan. Some of these temples, such as the Emperor Guan Temple in Xiezhou (解州), Shanxi, were built exactly in the layout of a palace, befitting his status as an "emperor". In Hong Kong, stories were told that even the Police station has a Guan Yu statue whereby, the constable would make worship before the work order is executed. There have been many Hong Kong Movies showing these kind of worship, funny is that the black society or triad has also believe that the same Kwan Yu will protect them from accident and or being hurt in fighting with the gangster and or policeman. And they would have special ritual celebration when new gangster would swear in front of it that they will serve with the truth and faith of his own.

It is a small, simple decoration embedded Italian Restaurant, very easy to assess, just 1 minute from the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Exit to Hanoi Road. The Food is not expensive but rather decent, spacious, good service, with smile from the people around you. They serve Buffet light lunch for those ladies who does not want to stuff up their stomach and a selection of Oyster for the people who like to go for it like I. Hong Kong People and their spending Behaviour

Recent survey shows that the after-90’s has 33% of HK total population, after-80’s is approximately 18% , X Generation is 32%, Baby Boomers 37%.

After-90’s people are generally having less confidence in dealing people, 60% of them claim that they do not feel confident to complete their target in life. They do not take risk, dare not make any decision without consulting their friends and or parents. These group of people tend to go for entertainment with friends for gathering, Karaoke and dinner where they spend an average of HKD$1,500 a month.

After-80’s is typically those people who spend minimum 3 hours on internet everyday, two times more than those after-90’s. They read comment and posting their comment on someone’s blogs. Reading celebrity or their idol’s blogs is their interests and habit after work. As Hong Hong is second to Korea with the most number of Bloggers, many of them belongs to this age group. Their buying behavior is more or less affected by the chatters and friends on internet. Gradually they form a trend and pattern on their buying habit and lose their instrinic personal preference. So whenever someone like a movie star wears a stylish jean, they follow. Andy Lau wears a Explorer II in the movie, they will try to follow and buy regardless if that piece of Tool Watch is good for his uses or not!

Recently we had recruited a young engineer, during the interviews we had highlighted the necessity and importance to go China is part of the job, after a couple of days, he returned call saying that their parents do not allow him to go far away from Home…
When I was young, I tried all the way I could to look for job that could travel, In fact I had been working on Merchant vessel that left Home for 12 months. During the contract, we hardly had chance to come back Home town HK. I had visited more than 20 Countries and 60 different cities in three years when I was less than 26 years old, we are coming from two different worlds. I think their parent has spoiled them all. These kid and his parent are shorter sighted. If you do not go China for your future, what else you can do in Hong Kong unless you are very smart…What is the different in working in HK and China… I can not see the reason what parents stop them to take the job…

X-Generation is more practical, they spend more on work that on entertainment, they are more active in the investment in stock market. Since they are more money-minded, they spend less time with families. They are big spender, whenever the are on vacation, they go out for extravagant dinner and enterainment., they like Piaget, Cartier, Panerai watch…Louis Vitton, Polo sort of things.
 Baby Boomers

After years of hard working, they have experienced all kind of ups and downs, they know what really matter is families and children. They believe the Fate and spend time understand the mysterious side of life. They plan their retirement life early, they would like to go for cruises with their beloved one whenever they could afford. They go hiking and exercise regularly, they use durable goods instead fashionable products, and they know what value is and more to go to Chow Tai Fook for jeweler goods and less on shoes and shirts. In order to attract this market group, the products has to be durable.. They Like Rolex, do appreciate a good watch like PP, AP, VC and Jaeger. They Like Dunhill products… I am one of them....

Minimum Wages in Hong Kong proposed HKD$20.00!

Gini's Index shows that Hong Kong is having a lot of rich people plus a large amount of poor people, and some average middle class. Ratio is something like 1 rich, 6 poor and 3 middle class,

Recent Gini Index of Hong Kong is 0.52 which is very High, and it's 2nd in the world after Mexico!

Last week, one of the Funktional senior officials in Hong Kong told us that the minimum Hourly wages should be HKD$20.00! (USD$2.59)

That is an equilvalent amount of money filling up Red Envelop for distributing to people who is not a close friend of yours in Chinese New year.
A Breakfast for a double egg, a thin toast with a slash of magarine (plastic Butter) and a cup of diluted coffee in Fast food Shop.
