Koh Samui

Koh Samui is the third largest island of Thailand after Phuket and Koh Chang and one of the most popular destinations for travelers. In recent years it developed to a tropical beach resort but still maintained its charm and has everything to offer - from coconut tree fringed beaches to tropical jungles to a vibrant nightlife. Popular beaches are Chaweng, Lamai, Bophut & Maenam.
There are a lot of fun sport and tourist spot: Buddha, Waterfall, Ko kart, Thai boxing, Scuba Diving, Butterfly farm, snake farm, resort...etc...

Celebration of Songkran Festival in Little Bangkok

 There is a celebration of Songkran Festival in Kowloon City Hong Kong. Starting from five pm Today, there are a few hundred Thais made they way to celebration of Songkran Festival in Kowloon City. They Throw water to each other happily, a pity that even Bangkok has withdraw this SongKran Festival this time because of the Red Shirt Protestor Riot on 14 Apr. (Thai New year) Kowloon City is the Little Bangkok in Hong Kong. Since the very first Thai Restaurant Thai Wah established in 1985, more and more Thai made their way to sell their Thai Cuisine there, now there are over 50 Thai restaurants there, early one was Thai Wah, Wong Chun Chun, Wong Lam lam are the famous one. I have been spending a lot of time eating there and my favourite Thai Dished is Yam Pha Dou Foo! ( deep fried minced cat fish served with peanut, dried shrimp, cashew nuts and topped up with some vinegar, chili and sugar.. That is the greatest Thai dish!! Yummy!

My wife (She2nd) used to go there for most of her time meeting friends and eating there,.. nowadays there are a lot Thai Bars…

Peace in Thailand

Recently the Thai Incident troubles me as first wife is Thai and the second is Thai too, both of they are now in Thailand. I am closely listening to the news on papers and Yahoo that worries me...though both of them in not in Bangkok. And my first beloved daughter got a scholarship for an exchange student programme and she will fly to Australia for University studying for 1 month next week, I hope there will be no trouble in the Airport.
I still remembered that I was trapped in Chiangmai for two weeks as the last Red Shirts protectors occupied the Bangkok Airport 2 years ago.
Yesterday, there were over 500 causalities including 18 deaths…! That is the worst for past 18 years. Thai political turmoil is really giving most of the Hong Kong people some kind of psychronogical contamination that pull them back for visiting Thailand. Thailand is used to be one of the most favorite tourist spots as HK people love to eat their food and like to share their smile. The City of Angels is now requiring the King to put his hand to stop this or there would be more damages to Thai economy and worst effect is the damages of the tourists that may take years to re-gain the confidence to go again.
Peace is a blessing, and as most of the HK people are lucky as we never have this kind of riot since 1967… may peace will stay in HK and Thailand forever whereby my two families are there!

Be happy man, Days in Chiang Mai!

I was stranded in The Hotel in Chiang Mai due to shut down of Bangkok airports.

It was a bit stressed whenever the TV is switched on, there are only tow news, Shut down of Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi Airports in Bangkok and the Mumbai Murder that had 160 killed and wounded 327 inhured. And the siege is still on!

So there are all bad news, terrorists mad acts, Economy Tsunami, Shut down of Thai airports,

I also worry my wife, my daughters, my families in Hong Kong and Thailand...

I should go out the city and breathe, walk and do some sight seeing, whilst I met one Australian couple in the lift and asked how was their feeling, they said they enjoyed and they could spend a few days more for sight seeing in Chiang Mai!!

I have toured around the whole city for about 12 Km and stopped at a few places : Warorot Grand Palace, Wat Phra Sing, Wat Sam Phao, Tha Phae Gate...

A Stay in ChiangMai

Though there happned some choas in the capital city Airports, I was in Chiangmai, I had a chance to go and tasted my favourite Thai dishes of Curry Crab and Baked Clams with good friends from ChiangMai and our colleagues yesterday 26 Nov 2008.

The shop is running by a Hong Kong man who spoke Cantonese with me, the food is classified 90% Chinese mixed with 10% Thai Sauce made of minced green chilli, suger, vinegar and some fish sauce.

The price is affordable about 2,700 Baht for 7 persons
